Independence Day
On 16 September , Independence Day is marked by fiestas all over Mexico. Parades with brass bands fill up the streets, and in major government palaces, governors re-enact the famous cry for freedom. The speech usually ends with a display of unique fireworks. Mexicans build towers of braided willow and palm stalks, putting firecrackers, sparklers and fireworks into the various levels. When the construction is put on fire, it becomes a rotating and whirling explosion of color and sound.
